what is virtualization software ?

It is a software which provides a platform to run VM's ,it is installed on a host OS and required to run vm.

eg-Vmware,Virtualbox.

what is virtual machine?

It is an os which is locally installed in our virtualbox- (kali linux-.ova file) or through windows virtual machine download option(alternative-.iso image file) for windows.

Benefits of installing VM ?

1-it consumes less space and once you closed the vm your space is free.

2-in case you made some mistakes or your vm get's corrupted it will not harm your host OS(Primary).

3-The allocation of RAM and processor is decided by user.

4-NAT network allows us to use internet inside the vm.

5-Snapshot feature helps in troubleshooting.

Virtualbox-

1-it is open source software provided by Oracle.

2-Grant all permissions.

3-installation= new file option-name the file-choose the option(32/64 bit system)-double click on your .ova file(in case of kali linux)set up the ram size,processor and ip address through storage and network module.
